Tom Hardy plays a bartender at a "drop bar". The local Chechen crew took over the bar a while ago. They are using the bar as one of their spots to drop their illegal money to be picked up later that night. A couple of guys come in and rob the bar. They take $5000 of the Chechen's money and they are holding James Gandolfini responsible because it's his bar. At least he technically owns the bar on paper and his name is on the sign outside. To the Chechens he may own the bar, but not the money collected there.
You will like it if...
You like slow developing thrillers with multiple layers to the story. The acting in this movie is superb and makes up for the slow pace. The story and dialogue are interesting. The dialogue isn't as long winded as a Quentin Tarantino movie, but in spots it is almost as clever. The story itself is excellent if a bit slow developing. There are a few big surprises that pop up along the way. This is the type of thriller that I love to watch. As with any movie with twists and turns some people may get lost along the way and not enjoy the movie as much. The slow pace may lose others. This movie is definitely worth watching if you like good thrillers.
